Abstract: Lightweight concrete offers advantages on reduced weight and can be used as structural concrete with the replacement of suitable lightweight materials. The saving on overall cost and construction materials due to lightweight structure will beneficial construction industry in Singapore which is currently facing the restriction on getting construction materials. This project focused on the feasibilities of the used of Light Expended Clay Aggregate (LECA) in replacement of natural aggregate in concrete. It attempted to describe the properties of lightweight concrete using LECA. The author has managed to arrive at the conclusion that LECA lightweight concrete with certain mix proportion is able to show the strength which is suitable for the replacement of normal concrete in structural element and a great reduction on the weight of the concrete.
