Abstract: My project explores the balance between two extremely different and conflicting cultures, the punk culture and the traditional Chinese culture. This project is not just about merging two aesthetics but creating something no one has explored yet and tapping into my years of cultural integration. I have always been fascinated by the aesthetics and purpose of punk fashion culture, but being raised in an extremely traditional Chinese family since young, punk culture was actually a taboo. With fashion playing such a big role in the punk culture and Chinese tradition, I decided to challenge both sides, not to see if there could be a fusion but also struck a balance between the two, while preserving the core energy of both cultures.
