Issue Date: 2009
Abstract: This report is prepared to provide a detailed record and analysis of my Final Year Project (FYP) which consists of two interrelated parts. The first part of this project focuses on velocity distribution in uniform open channel flow with vegetation while the second part of the project concentrates on the investigation of dispersion in vegetated open channel flow with and without water sloshing. In view of this, this final report is composed of two major elements – (1) discussion of flow velocity distribution within vegetated open channel flow based on acquired experimental data and (2) investigation of dispersion under either oscillating or non-oscillating condition. However, the emphasis of this report falls on the second part. Results from different test runs will be compared carefully and an analytical model adapted from previous researchers’ work which characterizes the dispersive process will be presented.
