|Title:||Design and analysis of novel flexible riser configurations||Authors:||Mohammed Lukman Haji Omar.||Keywords:||DRNTU::Engineering::Civil engineering::Water resources||Issue Date:||2009||Abstract:||Flexible risers either made of bonded or non-bonded high strength steel or other alloy materials have been increasingly utilised for a high pressure dynamic environment over the past 30 years or so in the offshore industry. Through the years, as part of a floating production system, developments in the design of flexible risers configurations have made the exploitation of oil/gas resources in deep waters with hostile environments economically viable. As these configurations are intimately dependant on the environment situation, different types of configurations are established to best adapt different situations. In this report, some aspects of the design of static and dynamic flexible riser configurations are discussed. The aim of this project is to understand and study the different types of existing configurations through thorough design and analyze on them. These are done through the use of analytical computer programme on the riser system. On top of this, a proposed design based on an existing configuration will be produced and discussed the rational behind it. Only tension, bending moment and reaction on the seabed are intensely focused here, as they are the predominant influential factors to the riser’s behavior. A standardised input on the system programme was also adopted to establish an unbiased experimental design. In conclusion, riser configurations are designed differently to suit in the differential environmental situation.
