Final Year Project (FYP), Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. https://hdl.handle.net/10356/159384 | Project: | B0426 | Abstract: | About 80 percent of all goods are transported by sea, making the maritime shipping industry the backbone of world trade. As the global economy has grown in recent decades, so has the volume of cargo transported by ships along with sea accidents. While there are a few individual investigations reports available online, there has been a lack of an organised and updated documentation of sea accidents related to container losses at sea. This study documented such accidents, spanning from year 2000 to 2021. It recorded information and details such as the dimensions of the ships and a summary of the causes of the accidents. A few common causes of sea accidents have also been identified, such as improper stowage, stacking height, packing and undesirable weather and sea conditions. It has also included certain recommendations that can be implemented. | URI: | https://hdl.handle.net/10356/159384 | Schools: | School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
