dc.description.abstract | In this project, the flow characteristics of an unconfined rectangular jet, aspect ratio 20 running at velocity of 25m/s is being investigated. The results obtained shows that the flow was able to achieve self similar in the mixing layer at x/D= 4 for both Umean and Urms profile for the single wire experiments. Self preservation occurred at x/D=6 for the Umean profile in the interaction region while the Urms profile was unable to show any self preservation. For the cross wire, both U and V velocity vectors are being measured. Self similarity for Umean, Urms and Vrms were achieved at x/D=4 within the mixing layer. Self preservation was only observed for Umean profile at x/D= 4 in the mixing layer. The decay rate and spread rate were tabulated and compared with the past results and a relationship of a bigger aspect ratio will result in a higher decay and spread rate was able to be seen. | en_US |
