Abstract: This Final Year Project focuses on the design and implementation of a Internet of Things (IoT) system that allows users to receive seat vacancy information through image recognition and processing. As this project makes use of a RPI which has limited computational power, minimal bandwidth requirement is a crucial factor to consider in reducing the workload of the RPI. While taking into consideration the limited computational powers of a RPI, existing technologies on the market were studied and experiments were carried out in order to aid the development of this project. This report aims to go through the lifecycle of the project beginning from requirement analysis, to system design, implementation and testing results of the project, as well as conclusion and suggestions for future work.
