Abstract: Due to globalisation and the increase in international media traffic, a rising interest in foreign language acquisition can be observed in today's society. To go with the increase in foreign language learners, foreign language classrooms should be revamped and improved. Research demonstrates the advantages of turning to more unconventional methods such as songs as language acquisition resources. This research paper looks at the benefits of songs as a learning resource in language acquisition and interviews current foreign language educators to gain insights into their opinions and implementation of songs in their classrooms. From these interviews, songs can be understood to appeal to a human's natural inclination towards music and sounds and offers a fresh perspective into the cultural aspects of a language. Songs help to create a comfortable environment to develop the linguistic capabilities of a learner holistically. Language educators implement songs through intense preparation before classes, fill- in-the-blank activities and reinforcement of concepts taught in class. This research paper also unveils the importance of the educator in the implementation of language acquisition strategies and of coherence between these strategies and lesson objectives.
