Final Year Project (FYP), Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. https://hdl.handle.net/10356/165341 | Project: | CS/22/042 | Abstract: | Energency: Energy Saving Within Households is a communications campaign which aims to cultivate energy-saving habits in Singapore’s public housing households, with the aim of lowering overall electricity consumption. Electricity consumption has been experiencing a rising trend in the past years. With imported natural gas, a finite resource, making up 95% of Singapore’s generated electricity, energy conservation is a vital step in ensuring our energy security and creating a sustainable future. Done by 4 Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, Nanyang Technological University students, this campaign sought to reduce energy consumption through several online platforms and a physical interactive pop-up booth, guided by the Transtheoretical Model. With our formative research, it was found that the main barriers were inconvenience and discomfort. Hence, our content focused more on ways to debunk misconceptions or introduce actions to reduce these perceived barriers. After our 2-month long campaign, Energency managed to meet all of our impact objectives and observed reduced household electricity consumption among our experimental group of more than double that of our control group. This paper also contains an evaluation of the campaign’s strengths and limitations. Further discussions on recommendations for similar future campaigns and the sustainability of our project have also been included. The annexes of our paper contains relevant data and figures. | URI: | https://hdl.handle.net/10356/165341 | Schools: | Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
