dc.description.abstract | In this new and modern age, the gaming technology has emerged from the current-generation virtual environment in the computer screen to the addition of some physical senses to flavor up the gaming experience. At the same time, the robotic technology is deemed as a good prospect to be brought up and combined with this current virtual environment. Driven by the current electronic and semiconductor development, robot is no longer a rare thing and is becoming common goods and commodities in the toy and consumer product industries. Taking off from this phenomenon, a New Generation Toy concept combining the interactivity of virtual entertainment and the reality aspect of physical robot has been introduced. This project describes the development and implementation of this New Generation Toy concept. A virtual robot has been designed to be played in the virtual world, while at the same time a physical robot is also there to be played in the real world. The virtual-physical robot platform has been successfully developed to enable the user to control the virtual and physical robots concurrently in the virtual as well as the real world. A web page is used as the media for the user to interact with the system, while the ActiveX technology is also used as the main tool to control the robot movement. The control process of the physical robot also makes use of the wireless technology in the form of a Wi-Fi device for the means of communicating with the physical robot. | en_US |
