Abstract: Living in an ageing country, care for elderly is one of the major problems that Singapore is looking into. Besides heavier subsidies and higher providing a higher pay-out for elderly, it is still insufficient. Statistic shows that in the future, there will be more elderly and the number of them living alone will also be higher. In many situations, family members are unable to attend to elderly all the time. Hence, safety of the elderly goes unaware as well. This project intends to allow elderly to be able to live independently without intruding their privacy and at the same time provides assurance of elderly safety when they are not home with the elderly. My project consists of the following functions. When a fall is detected, the device will send a notification to the caregiver. When the elderly is moving about in the house, the sensors will detect which part of the house the elderly is currently at and will send a notification to the caregiver. When elderly is on bed or when they got off the bed, there will be notification being sent to the caregiver. In this way, family members will be able to get a real time update of the status of elderly which will provides assurance of the safety of the elderly being home alone. This project is created in hopes that it will be a meaningful intelligence home system which will be able to help families with elderly that is staying alone.
