Abstract: Wind energy is considered as one of the most important energy source to replace the traditional energy sources. The development of wind power had more acceleration compared with other energy in these years, which means more and more wind farm are connected to the grid. Most wind turbine use induction generator as their generators, the induction generator will absorb the reactive power when it is working, which means the wind farm will absorb the reactive power from the grid if it was connected to the system. In this study, the traditional wind turbine and the dynamic behavior of induction generator will be introduced. Synchronous generator was studied and a FACTS devices STATCOM was mentioned to solve the stable problem. A whole system model with wind farm and the grid was built for studying the dynamic behavior of the alternative wind generator.
