dc.description.abstract | The aim of the wireless capsule is to identify and implement alternate components that can be used to build a wireless capsule endoscope. There is demand in the medical industry to develop capsule based diagnostic equipment to aid medical specialists in their diagnosis of certain diseases and research work. Capsule based medical equipment are considered less invasive to the human body, reducing the harm that may be inflicted on the human body. Currently the technology of wireless capsules are built for specific purposes by the manufacturer and are not interchangeable. The project proposes to develop a wireless capsule based on interchangeable boards to allow for quick adaptation of the capsule to its specific usage such as endoscopy, pH monitoring, temperature monitoring and other medical applications. The development of the wireless communication interface between the capsule and the monitoring station would be crucial for the control of the operations in the wireless capsule. To implement a dependable and viable wireless capsule, the author will review designs and implementations of wireless capsules that are currently in the market. A particular challenge posed to the author would be to identify components to be used to develop a wireless capsule that is miniature enough for consumption. Further in the project, the author would discuss the design considerations for the implementation of the wireless capsule. | en_US |
