Abstract: This report summarized the research and development of the final year project named as Human Body Movements Tracking Algorithm Development Using Ultra-Wideband-Radio Frequency Identification. The project aims to develop a localization system using ultra-wideband-radio frequency identification (UWB-RFID) active tags, readers and a centralize computation control to compute and track human body movements in an enclosed environment. The scope of this project and report involves the theoretical understanding of the impulse radio ultra-wideband (UWB), radio-frequency identification (RFID), and various multi-access techniques such as code division multi-access (CDMA), especially time hopping CDMA that is adopted in this project. Localization techniques such as time-of-arrival (TOA) and time-difference-of-arrival (TDOA) are essential theoretical concepts to understand for this project as to develop the tracking algorithm. Microprocessor and MATLAB programming for implementing time hopping delay control and tracking simulations for this project are required too. With the involvement in modification and integrating some of the hardware circuitry and programming of microprocessor to implement the time hopping delay controls, the project provides a diversify view on both hardware and software development process. In the tracking algorithm development of the project, MATLAB have been extensively used to implement the algorithm and practical experiment was conducted to collect the UWB pulses for software processing and simulation. The practical experiment demonstrating the localization concepts such time-difference-of-arrival (TDOA) would be examined and the developed tracking algorithm would be used to confirm the practicability of the system.
