Abstract: Ever since the invention of the X-ray tube, X-rays have been indispensable in our lives, being used in applications ranging from medical diagnostics to security scanning. However, the X-ray source has changed little from the days of early use despite the technological advancement we have had that led to the widespread adoption of X-ray radiography. By delving deeper into the topic, the student will explore the ideas of further refinement of the technology and application of X-rays. The goal of this project is threefold: firstly, to present a review of X-ray source technologies; Secondly, to present a review of X-ray radiography techniques; and thirdly, to identify directions for potential innovation.
