Issue Date: 2009
Abstract: This report presents the implementations and control of single-phase unity power factor AC-DC converters. The AC-DC converters implemented are the bi-directional boost rectifier and the uni-directional boost rectifier. For these rectifiers, adaptive controllers are employed to regulate the output voltage and to achieve unity power factor in the presence of uncertain loads. The controller used for the bi-directional boost rectifier is different from that used for the uni-directional boost rectifier. Experimental results are provided to show the effectiveness of these controllers in achieving unity power factor as well as output regulation.
