Final Year Project (FYP), Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. https://hdl.handle.net/10356/175160 | Abstract: | With the increasing prevalence of dementia amidst an aging population, the Person-Centered Care (PEAR) system offers a technologically advanced approach to simplifying and improving caregiving practices. Developed for both web and mobile platforms, the system facilitates person-centered care by providing healthcare professionals, caregivers, and supervisors with integrated tools for efficient patient management and monitoring. Central to this project is the creation of a sophisticated scheduling system microservice, designed to generate personalized and adaptive weekly schedules for patients. This system meticulously accounts for a variety of constraints, such as patient preferences, medical recommendations, activity availability, routines, and exclusions, thereby optimizing the balance between structured activities and patient well-being. The use of a microservices architecture and the adoption of modern frameworks underpins this component, embodying the team's commitment to modern, scalable, and maintainable software solutions. Concurrently, significant advancements have been made to the existing PEAR web application, focusing on the display and management of schedules. These enhancements were meticulously implemented following sound software engineering principles, particularly adhering to MVC (Model-View-Controller) and API patterns. This approach has ensured a robust, modular structure for the web application, facilitating easy updates, scalability, and enhanced user experience. The integration of these modern software practices highlights the project's dedication to delivering a high-quality, user-friendly platform. Through the combined efforts of the team and under the guidance of the team’s supervisor, the PEAR system now boasts a robust scheduling component alongside a refined web application interface. These developments not only demonstrate adherence to best practices in software development but also significantly contribute to the system's overall functionality and reliability. The implementation of these features reflects a forward-looking strategy, ensuring the PEAR system remains at the forefront of digital healthcare solutions for dementia care. | URI: | https://hdl.handle.net/10356/175160 | Schools: | School of Computer Science and Engineering | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
