Title: | Stabbing incidents in Australia reignite low-tech terrorism concerns | Authors: | Kalicharan Veera Singam | Keywords: | Social Sciences | Issue Date: | 2024 | Source: | Kalicharan Veera Singam (2024). Stabbing incidents in Australia reignite low-tech terrorism concerns. RSIS Commentaries, 053-24. | Journal: | RSIS Commentaries, 053-24 | Abstract: | Two stabbing attacks that took place in Sydney, Australia, recently have reignited concerns over the perpetration of violence using low-tech weapons. The first attack was classified as non-terrorist, while the second attack in a church, was attributed to religiously-motivated terrorism. The latter triggered violent attacks on the police and generated communal tensions, which may have a more lasting impact than the terrorist attack itself. It underscores the importance of social cohesion and resilience in the aftermath of such incidents. | URI: | https://hdl.handle.net/10356/175926 | Schools: | S.
