Abstract: This project explores the topic of the feasibility of vertical farming along façade areas of high-rise buildings with relation to the design, creation and testing of a format of planter that fits the typical Singaporean high-rise building. In this paper, identified requirements along with engineering design principles dictates the generated concepts for the vertical planters. Through iterations in embodiment designs, a prototype design is reached and constructed. Through the conduct of practical trials, the advantages, and disadvantages of the design along with its flaws were identified and evaluated. Upon which improvements to the design is suggested and planned with the use of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools to verify the feasibility and effectiveness.
