J. R. (2024). Design of reconfigurable battery energy storage system. Final Year Project (FYP), Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. https://hdl.handle.net/10356/176457 | Abstract: | As many countries are shifting to a greener and more sustainable approach, there has been a surge in demand for batteries. This is because batteries are being used to power energy storage, transportation, and power electronics. Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) is a storage system that stores and distributes power in the form of electricity. With the system in place, this could help to reduce the amount of fossil fuel that is being used to generate electricity. Singapore has heavily invested in several BESS and is one of Southeast Asia’s largest utility-scale storage systems. The BESS can adjust the battery interconnection pattern based on the battery behaviour, hardware state and demands from the user. Some of the issues which the user may face when using a BESS are fault tolerance, energy efficiency and battery lifespan problems. Therefore, this project focuses on analyzing the basic concepts and designing a BESS that can provide at least five benefits instead of four. The four reported benefits are better fault tolerance, energy efficiency, system operation and battery lifespans. The additional benefit of the end goal is to provide a better operating efficiency. | URI: | https://hdl.handle.net/10356/176457 | Schools: | School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
