Abstract: This report presents an in-depth exploration of hydroponics, focusing on the development of GreenThrive, a compact high-yield vertical farming system designed for household use in HDB flats in Singapore. With inspiration from mirror designs and sustainability principles, GreenThrive aims to create a home-based hydroponic cultivation in urban environments. GreenThrive provides an accessible and efficient solution for growing green vegetables and herbs in limited urban spaces. The system maximizes light distribution by integrating mirror-inspired designs, enhancing plant growth, and optimizing resource utilization. Key objectives of the project include enhancing crop yield and productivity, promoting resource efficiency and sustainability, ensuring food security, and introducing GreenThriveBot, a database bot for accessible plant growth information to support the hydroponic system management for new and seasoned growers alike. The report documents the design, implementation, challenges encountered, solutions devised, and insights gained from the project. Future improvements are also considered for ongoing innovation and refinement. With GreenThrive, this project aims to contribute to a more resilient, efficient, and sustainable Singapore.
