Abstract: The project aims to investigate a novel permanent magnet vernier motor with integral-slot non-overlapping concentrated winding by splitting phases axially. In decades, permanent magnet vernier motors have gained much focus due to their superior torque performances. However, the existing vernier motors have conflict among torque, power factor and fault-tolerant capability. In order to keep the merits, a novel permanent magnet vernier motor is proposed to achieve high torque and power factor as well as a good fault-tolerant capability. This project inspires to further understand the basic electromagnetic theory and master the finite-element analysis of electrical machines.
