Abstract: This report embarks on a comparative analysis of the movement characteristics of the Mimosa pudica, also commonly known as the sensitive plant, in response to stimuli applied at different points. The study utilizes wild specimens of Mimosa pudica from different locations, leveraging real-time data acquisition for empirical evidence. The parameters measured include leaf length and width, petiole diameter, primary pulvinus diameter, stem diameter, and duration of leaf closure and recovery after stimulation. Along with an extensive literature review, the data collected will be compared using box-and-whisker plots to gain insights into the effects of stimulating different parts of the Mimosa pudica on its movements. This investigation aims to deepen the understanding of the responsive mechanisms of Mimosa pudica, presenting a detailed exploration of plant movement and responsiveness. It is hoped that this exploration may advance the field of biomimetics.
