Abstract: With the advancement in technology over the years, people have developed software to perform simulations to obtain results for study and research purposes. This software are efficient in saving time and cost and is considerably reliable when used correctly. One of the frequent uses is the study of the interaction between fluid and a solid body underwater. Many of these studies have been done and well-studied, however, that is only applied to simple geometries such as cylinders and spheres. For more complex geometry is not as easily obtained. In real life applications, people are usually dealing with much more complex geometry. Therefore, this study will demonstrate the interaction between fluid and a solid of complex geometry, a submersible underwater. The focus of this report is to conduct numerical simulations on flow past submersibles, the Typhoon Class Submarine to understand better understand their wake structures and behaviour. Numerical simulations we be conducted using ANSYS Fluent based on turbulence model, k-epsilon simulation approach, extract and plot the results, as well as to analyse the flow outcomes. Simulations will then be repeated with different settings and results obtained will be compared against one another.
