Participants at the conference presented papers on Himalayan languages spanning great geographic, temporal, and genetic distances: from Sichuan in the east to Pakistan in the west; from pre-Tibetan and Tangut to the many modern-day languages spoken in the region; and across many subgroups in Tibeto-Burman and Indo-European.
