Abstract: In the present paper I would like to discuss register tone in combination with voicing and aspiration. Written Tibetan (WT) forms will be compared with their etymologically corresponding forms in the dialects of Shigatse (Central Tibet)2 and Bathang (Kham)3. Register tone may be either high or low in both dialects.
