Abstract: The purpose of this dissertation is to design an innovative smart cap device, which is designed for the ageing population, capable of monitoring heart rate, body temperature, humiture of the outdoor environment in real time and detecting if the wearer has accidentally fallen, thus providing a complete health monitoring solution for the elderly. The goal of the project is to develop a device and matched platform for remote monitoring of elderly outpatients, which is easily accessible to the elderly and enhances their independence beyond hospital care. The platform integrates both hardware and software elements, incorporating a variety of home-based sensors and wearable technologies to facilitate the remote observation of health indicators. This project proposes the creation of a smart cap capable of monitoring heart rate and body temperature, real-time monitoring of environmental temperature and humidity, and the fall detection, utilizing the ESP32 microcontroller for its operation. The device integrates four biomedical sensors: the MAX30205 for temperature measurement, the MAX30101 for heart rate tracking, SHT31-F for receiving temperature and humidity of the environment and MPU-6050 for detecting falling action. As a wearable device, this smart cap ensures ease of use for patients. The collected data are processed by the ESP32 microcontroller via the internet are transmitted over the internet and sent to mobile app, allowing remote health monitoring, which not only makes carers or doctors to monitor the patient's health status, but also facilitates doctors in accessing the patient’s health history before their visit, improving the efficiency of medical consultations.
