Abstract: This study systematically explores the impact of carbon source starvation (CCS) and the addition of riboflavin on the corrosion of X80 welded joints by Desulfovibrio vulgaris. The results showed that the Desulfovibrio vulgaris corrosion of the welded joint was apparently selective under the independent action of CCS or riboflavin addition, while the selectivity distinctly decreased under their combined action. More grain boundaries and higher proportion of the low-angle grain boundaries in the base metal and welding zone were the reasons for the selective corrosion. The attachment behavior of the Desulfovibrio vulgaris cells was responsible for the decreasing of the selectivity.
