Abstract: Artificial Intelligence (AI) has progressed significantly over the past few years with more organisations beginning to adopt it. AI in chatbots is no exception with modern chatbots being able to hold human-like conversations. This project aims to explore the use of the Large Language Model (LLM) to develop a learning companion chatbot for students. The key idea of this project is to change how traditional learning takes place. Having a learning companion chatbot for students will make learning more accessible. This provides an alternative solution to receive a personalised and interactive learning format. Students from higher education can use the platform to explore topics of interest to them. Learning takes place using a Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) framework, which promotes active participation and sustained motivation. The chatbot's learning framework and study tools have differentiated it from Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) and current chatbots in the market.
