Integrated project allocation and examiner assignment system for final year projects Part 1

Abstract

The Final Year Project Application (FYP-APP) is a comprehensive, web-based solution designed to streamline the end-to-end administration of Final Year Projects (FYPs) within the College of Computing and Data Science (CCDS). Previously, CCDS relied on two outdated and disjointed legacy systems—the FYP Examiner Allocation System (FEAS) and the Student Selection System (SSS)—which introduced inefficiencies in project coordination. FYP-APP addresses these challenges by integrating all functionalities into a unified, modern platform.

The FYP-APP development process followed agile methodologies, a modular software architecture, and a user-centered design approach to ensure seamless usability and system efficiency. Key contributions include the design and implementation of core features, optimization of project management workflows, and leadership in the development team.

Building on the work from four previous batches of FYP students, the FYP-APP was finally successfully deployed on the school's production servers, consolidating various administrative tasks into a single, accessible application. This modernized system not only enhances operational efficiency but also lays a foundation for future feature development.
