Integrated project allocation and examiner assignment system for final year projects part 6

Abstract

The College of Computing and Data Science (CCDS) manages Final Year Project (FYP) allocation and examiner assignment through an allocation system. The existing legacy system, developed using a legacy framework, poses security vulnerabilities and maintenance difficulties. These challenges motivated a series of migration efforts towards a new integrated system to achieve a more modern and robust solution, known as FYP-APP. Over the past two years, previous batches of students have contributed to this migration process.

This report documents the progress and contributions made towards the migration and deployment of FYP-APP. It provides an overview of the project's structure and technical implementation of the examiner allocation algorithms alongside other individual contributions and key bug fixes. It then highlights leadership responsibilities undertaken as a team leader in guiding the team towards project milestones. Lastly, the report examines the deployment process, showcasing improvements over the legacy deployment method to enhance security, efficiency, and reliability.

The successful deployment of FYP-APP is expected to phase out its legacy counterpart and ensure the application’s longevity for future academic years.
