Abstract: The PEAR project transitioned from a monolithic architecture to a scalable microservices-based system, addressing critical limitations of the outdated monolithic .NET 5 infrastructure. This shift enabled better modularity, improved maintainability, and allowed each service to scale independently from each other. As part of this effort, I contributed to the development and optimisation of the User Service, a core component responsible for authentication and user management. My contributions included implementing caching strategies, rate limiting, and query optimisations to enhance performance and scalability. Additionally, I collaborated on developing core functionalities of the User Service such as creating CRUD operations for users and JWT￾based authentication. This modernisation effort has laid the foundation for a scalable, high-performance system, allowing for faster development cycles and long-term sustainability
