Title: | Quantised transform-domain motion estimation technique for H.264 secondary SP frame | Authors: | Kattukandy Rajan Arun. | Keywords: | DRNTU::Engineering::Electrical and electronic engineering::Electronic systems::Signal processing | Issue Date: | 2008 | Abstract: | SP-frame is a new access. Notwithstanding the guarantee of seapicture type supported by H.264, and supports functions such as rate- switching and random-mless switching, the cost is the bulky size of secondary SP-frames. This induces a significant amount of additional space or bandwidth for storage or transmission. Instead of using conventional pixel-domain motion estimation, an efficient scheme for coding secondary SP-frames using motion estimation and compensation operated in the quantized transform domain (QDCT) was proposed by Ki-Kit Lai, Yui-Lam Chan, and Wan-Chi Siu. This method is studied and implemented in this thesis. So far, much investigation has been conducted to evaluate the trade off between the relative sizes of primary and secondary SP-frames by adjusting the quantization parameters. The aim is to keep the secondary SP-frames as small as possible without affecting the size of primary SP-frames. Simulation results show that the size of secondary SP-frames can be reduced remarkably. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/18834 | Schools: | School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
