Home security system is essential to provides a more secured home for everyone. Today, with the emerging Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) and biometrics technologies, their use in home security has become more popular. However, despite the large number of people agreeing that home security system can ensure a more secured home, many are discouraged by the cost of these systems. To overcome the high cost of existing home security system that uses RFID or fingerprint scanner, the student proposed a home security system that is able to provide basic home security and at the same time reduce the cost of the system. This can be achieved with the use of 1-wire device from Maxim Integrated Products. The wide range of 1-wire devices improve the expansion capability of the system.
