Title: | Report on industrial attachment with DSO National Laboratories | Authors: | Ang, Wei An | Keywords: | DRNTU::Engineering::Materials | Issue Date: | 2008 | Abstract: | Boron (B) has high theoretical gravimetric combustion energy, which indicates its potential as high energy density ingredients in propellants to increase the overall energy content. However, it has been showed that B high theoretical combustion energy is not attainable in desired applications due to incomplete combustion. This project aims to optimize the thermal and kinetics properties of B by synthesizing Boron-Magnesium (B-Mg) energetic materials using two methods namely mechanical alloying (MA) and suspension mixing. Materials synthesized were then investigated by correlating their thermal properties with crystallographic and microstructure properties. An aging study on B-Mg energetic materials was also done to understand its aging behavior and storage conditions. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10356/19139 | Schools: | School of Materials Science & Engineering | Rights: | Nanyang Technological University | Fulltext Permission: | restricted | Fulltext Availability: | With Fulltext |
