Title: Dynamic compaction of sand column
Authors: Law, Pak Chong.
Keywords: DRNTU::Engineering::Civil engineering::Geotechnical
Issue Date: 1996
Abstract: An apparatus for the one-dimensional impact testing is developed to study the response of a sand column confined within a rigid steel pipe subject to an impact of a dropping pounder. The aim of the test is to investigate the progressive changes in sand density due to repeated impact and the effect of impact parameters on the changes in sand density. The tests were conducted using various combinations of drop height and pounder weight.
