Abstract: The construction of the tunnels in the Central Expressway (CTE) Phase II involved deep excavations. The tunnels pass through two main stiff soil profiles in Singapore. An extensive instrumentation programme was carried out alongside the excavations to monitor the behaviour of the temporary support systems.
