dc.description.abstractThis study is a preliminary investigation of local scour around a pile caused by a ship propeller. As a first approximation, the propeller generated flow is simulated using a circular jet. The main objectives are to study the scouring mechanism around the pile and the associated scour hole, and to identify the characteristic parameters affecting the scour hole formation.en_US
