Soil stabilization with cement or lime columns is a relatively new soil improvement method in geotechnical engineering. This technique which has been very economical compared with other soil improvement methods has been used extensively in Sweden, Finland and Norway. However, the method is not common in Southeast Asia because of the lack of data on the behaviour of the cement or lime columns and suitable equipment for the installation of the columns.en_US
