Title: Compression of digitized speech
Authors: Sim, See Chiang.

Issue Date: 1997
Abstract: As the study of speech waveforms shows the existence of strong correlation in the adjacent voice packets, it is possible to reduce bandwidth requirement by not transmitting packets that are highly correlated to reference packets. When these correlated packets are not transmitted across the network, the receiving terminal needs to employ a scheme of waveform substitution that replaces a discarded packet with the previous or reference packet.
