Abstract: Network security is becoming more important because of the increased dependency on the network to deUver information in a distributed open system environment across open networks. Surveying the various standards and work done so far revealed that there are shortcomings in their definitions. Two examples are given. This report states the network issues and the network security requirements of today's network. Based on these, a secure network architectural framework is presented.
