Title: Implementation of an automode modem using digital signal processing
Authors: Si, See Mong.
Issue Date: 1993
Abstract: This research thesis details the design and implementation of an automode modem using digital signal processing techniques. The reason for choosing digital signal processing techniques is that they permit robust, reliable and economical solutions in the modem design field. This automode modem incorporates multiple modulation techniques and signalling rates for data transmission. It has the capability of detecting the characteristics of the modem which it is connected to and switching to the appropriate combination to allow interworking at the highest possible signalling rate. The motivation behind the idea of implementing such a modem is the difficulty for a user to have access to another user using a modem of different standard and speed. With this modem, the user at one-end is able to transmit or receive data efficiently and effectively regardless of the standards or speeds of the modem at the other end.
