Abstract: Most early communication satellite systems are power-limited ; as improvements are made on launch vehicles and satellites become larger, the tendency has shifted from power-limited to bandwidth limited. As such, search has been ongoing for codes that can maintain a fixed level of performance and transmitting the most information over the band-limited channel.
