Abstract: Refrigerated shipping containers, or reefers are widely used throughout the world in transporting perishable goods and form an important part of the global food distribution chain. These insulated containers are subjected to very demanding performance requirements because of the need to carry a huge variety of cargoes under wide variations in climatic conditions.
