Issue Date: 1996
Abstract: Thermal barrier coatings consisting of a plasma sprayed yttria-partially stabilised zirconia (PSZ) top coat and a plasma sprayed NiAl bond coat, were applied on mild steel strips and exposed to temperatures above 800°C to simulate actual operating condition in a circular fluorescent lamp manufacturing oven. Each coating was then cut into small strips (5 x 25 mm) at the time intervals of 21, 37, 84 and 100 hrs, to examine the amount of oxidation formed at each interval.
