Abstract: Over the last few years, optimization of PCB component onsertion/placement operations has emerged as an important research area and an increasing number of solution approaches have been proposed. However, none of those approaches, to date, are directly applicable to a multihead concurrent operation machine (MCO) and it is this very sophisticated machine that is now gaining popularity in SMD placement. In this work, the optimization of component placement operations is focused on this type of machine.
