Issue Date: 1996
Abstract: A finite element dynamics model for flexible multibody systems is developed. The equations of motion for the dynamics system are formulated based on matrix form of Classical Lagrange's Equation. A body of the system is discretised into elements by using the finite element method based on the assumption of Euler-Bernoulli beam theory. Mathematical models are developed to define some common mechanical joints so that general constrained mechanical systems can be analysed. The general dynamics model developed is capable of handling flexible body systems undergoing large gross motion accompanied by linear elastic deformations.
