Abstract: This report examined the state of the PC industry worldwide and focussed subsequently on the Asia-Pacific region in the period between 1993 to mid-1994. Top industry players worldwide for 1993 were identified on the basis of total worldwide unit shipments and revenues. The company profiles, performance and strategies of these major players were presented and evaluated. In the Asia-Pacific region, the main players were Apple, Compaq, IBM, Acer, and Hewlett Packard. More importantly, key forces which shaped the industry and which are expected to affect the future market conditions such as market potential, size and growth were inferred from the available data.
