Abstract: Myanmar is the largest country in Peninsular Southeast Asia, but perhaps one of the least explored. It has lain hidden behind the curtain for some 40 years. The fascinating lifestyle, landscape and cultural and architectural heritage of this ancient country had been sadly left almost unexplored. Except for the few ardent travellers who gained access through innovative means in the past, Myanmar undoubtedly remains at best a vague destination that surfaces often as the prison of Nobel laureate Aung San Suu Kyi.
