Abstract: The objective of this study is to examine the nature and characteristics of the pharmaceutical industry in Singapore. The study will highlight and examine the potential and competing forces shaping the future profitability of the industry as well as identifying the problems and opportunities including ethical issues faced by the generic drug manufacturers. The study aims to analyse the various strategic alternatives that may be available to pharmaceutical companies in the marketing of its generic drugs which are facing competition from other generic substitutes and established brand-name drugs.
